Party Jello

CookingAddic Red, White and Blue for 4th of July! Jello could be made like Jello Cake or individual glass cups. It's made with the twist. This recipe makes 7,  5 oz cups.


  • 3 oz raspberry or strawberry jello
  • 1 1/2 cup blended fresh strawberries (this is the twist)
  • 6 oz blue berry jello (large box)

White jello:

  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 tbs sweetened condensed milk
  • 5 oz heavy whipping cream
  • 1 oz milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 pack (7 grams) Knox gelatin

 Mix blue jello with 1 cup of boiled water. Microwave for 30 sec. Mix with 1 cup cold water. Pour in to cups and refrigerate until it sets.
Make white jello. Mix cold milk with  gelatin. Let it set for a minute then microwave it for about about 30 sec. It needs to melt. Then to cool it you can add 1  tbsp whipping cream while mixing. 
Have sour cream,  sweetened condensed milk and whipping cream ready before you cool down the gelatin.
Mix it with the mixer pour gelatin slowly. Then pour white jello in to the cups as fast as possible. Refrigerate until it sets.

Mix red jello with 1 cup of boiling water. Blend strawberries add it to jello. Pour it on the top of white jello. Refrigerate and enjoy!!!

Cedar-Planked Salmon Recipe

CookingAddic First time I tried this salmon recipe, I was amazed how delicious it is. Cedar plank salmon is a classic recipe for the grill. You get all the flavor of the grill with real smoke even if you are using a gas grill with the convenience of cooking a large, delicate fish fillet on a cedar plank. 

This grilled salmon recipe is definitely going to please. One trick is to keep the salmon fillet on the cedar plank the whole time, from the preparation to serving. If you place the cedar plank on a sheet of foil you and put the whole thing on the table. My brother in law made it for the party. So I had to get the recipe to share with you guys


  • 1 piece salmon filet 
  • 2 tsp salmon rub
  • 1/3 tsp salt 
  • 1/3 tsp coriander
  • 2-3 tbs olive oil
  • 1 large lemon (1/3 of the lemon juiced)
  • 1 cedar wood plank

I found cedar boards at Central Market and Fred Meyer. 

Rinse the plank with water to remove any dust.
Fill a sink or other large container with water.
Submerge the plank in the water, placing a weight on top of it. Soak the plank for 4 to 24 hours. One of my readers said she always soaks the planks for 24 hrs and it never catches fire. :-)
Rinse salmon and pat it dry. Squeeze the lemon juice on top of salmon. Slice the rest of the lemon for the top.
Sprinkle with salmon rub. 
Rub it in with your hands. Sprinkle salt and coriander. 
Pour olive oil and spread it on top. Let it soak for 1-2 hrs. 
When wood plank are ready transfer salmon to the board. Top with lemon slices.
Preheat grill for 15 min on high. Put salmon in and close the lid. Cook on high for 5 min. Then lower the temp to med-low. Cook for 17 min. If it catches fire at the end, blow it out turn off the grill. Then let salmon stay covered for the rest of time. I figured out that cook time is 20-25 min is perfect.

"Thanksgiving Cake"

CookingAddic Thanksgiving desserts usually mean pie,  you could try baking a festive cake. Finish off your Thanksgiving feast with this leaf cake. I had this idea for awhile to make this cake for Thanksgiving. We made chocolate leaves with kids a few weeks before. Kids had a blast brushing chocolate on the leaves.

You will need: 

  • Recipe of "Golden Key Cake" from Moms Dish
  • Recipe of  "Easy Honey Cake"
  • Different colors of chocolate melts
  • Chocolate ganache to cover the cake (500 grams of dark 72% chocolate and 500 ml heavy whipping cream) 

Collect leaves of different shapes. Best to get thicker leaves. Thin ones don't peel off well. Wash and dry em. 
Melt the chocolate and brush it on the back of the leaves. Kids loved this project.
Put it to dry on the parchment paper. 
Make some extra leaves, in case some break.  
Golden Key cake was on the top.  (I baked it in 8 inch size cake pan) For  "Golden Key Cake"  I used macadamia nuts and soaked it with half and half. The cake was so delicious!!! We loved it. The "Easy Honey Cake"   is our all time favorite too! (10 inch size)

The Turkey Recipe was the same as always been for 20 years!  

I filled turkey with cous cous after I roast it.

"Apple Crumb Pie"

CookingAddic Making your own apple pie recipe is much easier than you think!  A classic apple pie takes a shortcut with easy Trader Joe's pie crust. This pie is absolutely amazing!!!


  • 6-8 apples peeled, sliced apples (I used Fuji)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • Dash of ground nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp butter


  • 1 stick soft butter
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 cup flour

1 pie crust (I bought at Trader Joe's)

Preheat oven to 375 F.

Peel and slice apples into med pieces. 
Melt butter add apples, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg.   
Cook for a few min. 
Add apples into prepared  pie crust.
To make crumbs mix butter, sugar and four with the fork. 
Put it on the top of pie. 
Bake for 40-45 min on 375F. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

"Garlic Roasted Brussels Sprouts Recipe"

CookingAddic Perfect recipe for roasted brussels sprouts with garlic and balsamic vinegar. Roasting brussels sprouts in the oven makes a delicious vegetable dish. Super healthy and comforting side dish, perfect for any holiday get together! 


  • 2 pounds Brussels sprouts
  • 1/3 cup avocado or good olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt 
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon  balsamic vinegar
  • 7 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 tsp sweet ginger garlic seasoning (Got it Costco)
  • 1 tsp coriander 
  • 1 tsp vegeta (optional)
  • 3/4 cup parmesan cheese

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

Trim and cut each brussel in half through the core.
Mix all the spices with oil.
Mix brussels with oil.
 Place the Brussels sprouts on a sheet pan, including some of the loose leaves, which get crispy when they're roasted. Roast the Brussels sprouts for 20 to 25 minutes, until they're tender and nicely browned. Add parmesan 5 min before cooking time is done.
